Once upon a Twelfth Night

I have always been an avid fan of Shakespeare in the Park ever since I watched A Midsummer’s Night Dream by Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) in Sec 3 for a Literature field trip. After Macbeth last year, I managed to catch this year’s production: Twelfth Night.

For those not familiar with the story, to make it simpler, refer to the movieย She’s the Man if you have watched it before! Otherwise, the plot of the original Shakespeare play: Twelfth Night.

One thing to note about SRT is that they often inject humour and “Singaporean” flavours into the play to engage the audience. It helps to facilitate the understanding of the play, and also a deeper insight into Literature for people who may not be very familiar with Shakespearean English.

I have to say, I was totally mesmerised by Adrian Pang’s performance of Feste, who livened the entire play with his crazy antics. I was particularly amused by Daniel Jenkins’ role of Malvolio, who provided to core comic relief to the play.

Also, Shakespeare in the Park also provides a great setting for a night picnic under the stars whilst enjoying the play! I loved the set particularly this year, I guessed it was the nicest set I have ever seen in the 3 productions I attended.

Oh and look at the barang barang other people brought!

People were really armed with stools, brollies, picnic baskets, repellent and all! I’d recommend bringing a poncho though, with the erratic weather Singapore’s been having. I got caught in the rain without one! ):

If you’d like to try watching a Shakespearean play production, I would say Twelfth Night is a good show to start with as it is a comedy, and the story is not complicated to understand. At the end of the day, Twelfth Night will leave you reeling with laughter, and ensuring an enjoyable night, to you and your companions (:

Shows run until 20th May (Sunday), grab your tickets if you haven’t! (:

First night adventure with the babygirls <3

I’m starting to appreciate the growing number of friends who can drive, because we can go to less inaccessible places at later timings, and enjoy awesome food at incredible prices ๐Ÿ˜€

So the babygirls and the respective boyfs all met up for awesome Porridge Buffet Supper, all thanks to WL driving us there!

First of all, the price is incredible. For $11.80++ on weeknights (after 10.30pm), you get to enjoy a great Teochew Porridge buffet with a rather good selection of sides to go with the pasty porridge. There’s fish, pork, curry chicken, braised taupok and eggs, duck, salted vegetables and all, that goes extremely well with the sweet potato porridge. There were also plenty of condiments to choose from, preserved seaweed, chye sim, pork floss and many more. Oh, and there was also my favourite szechuan soup with duck! (I LOVE SOUPS.)

See how much minced meat WL and R took! ๐Ÿ˜›

There’s ice cream and ice kachang too for a sweet touch for the end of the meal ๐Ÿ˜€

Well, needless to say, we all went home with full and satisfied bellies with a supper like this (:

Still, if you are an ‘ambience’ person, you probably won’t enjoy this place very much because of the lousy singing in the piano lounge right beside the restaurant. The service was so-so, I had to ask the waiter to clear my plate for me because he seemed to be dozing off.

It was also great to have supper with the girls, and their boyfs of course (: Nice catching up and just hanging out and having loads and loads of fun ๐Ÿ˜€

We had fun, didn’t we? ๐Ÿ˜€

Looking forward to our next few outings! โค

Long time no see, my friends.

Finally got the chance to meet up with the tension girls over dinner on Friday, and at the same time I was able to satisfy my ramen craving at Ramen Play @ Junction 8!

Ordered a Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, I love my ramen spicy and soupy, absolutely delish and it definitely hit all the right spots! ๐Ÿ˜€

Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen $10.90++

They even have the tamago (the braised egg) with a slight runny centre, exactly the way I like it ๐Ÿ˜€ The soup base was rich yet non over-powering, and the noodles were really bouncy too! I think I found my new favourite ramen heehee ๐Ÿ˜€

And you should totally ask the waiters for the chilli chives, they really add an extra kick to the meal and a good company to the ramen! The waiters are all really chirpy and polite, it was genuinely a good dining experience (:

Verdict: 4/5

Finally got to see C after 7 months in UK! Hehehe, glad he liked the hum chim peng I bought ย ๐Ÿ˜€

Then we went to Strictly Pancakes for some awesome pancake lovin’ which left us with a full and happy belly ^^ (No pictures today because my camera’s photos got corrupted again ๐Ÿ˜ฆ looks like it’s time for a new camera, and no reviews for awhile ><)

Majorlica Majorca Workshop

So, I received an invitation from Yvettia here to join her for a Majorlica Majorca (MJ) make up workshop because she had 2 slots, and hence extended the invitation to me. She knows that I’d like to learn some new tips in make up and hence thought it’d be a good chance to expose me to a fine make up brand!

So off I was, learning make up tips from make up artists in Shiseido, and also learning how to accentuate my features slightly better! I enjoyed the session as the coach was a really funny person, and he was really friendly and ready to provide tips other than the daily make up that he was coaching in that day!

So I got to try out a whole range of MJ products, and I loved their Mascara which really gave my eyes an extra oomph! Oh and their blusher also gave a really natural glow to my tanned skin! I think their products are really worth a try!

So I left a little bit more makeup knowledge, and also a door gift of their Lip Gloss collection, and a cupcake by their sponsor ^^

And after the session, I stepped into H&M for the first time in my lifeeeeee! ๐Ÿ˜€

Okay I’m a noob, but it’s because I don’t like to go town because there’s always a crazy amount of people. But still okay I got really excited going into H&M for the first time and there’s all these accessories and clothes that caught my eye! I think I really need a shopping trip there soon haha ๐Ÿ˜€

Right, that’s all for now! Really enjoyed the night out with her and I had a lot of fun catching up and chatting with her (: I can’t wait to meet up with her and the other 4U girls soon! ^^

Happy Valentine’s Day-Part 1

Hello there, how did you spend your Valentine’s Day? (:

I spent 3 days with 3 different people for Vday meetups and I missed them so much!

Meetup #1: Wifey J!

Caught up with her before I went to Malaysia, and we went to Cafe Cartel because we really love the food there! So, for the two of us, we shared an Oriental Chicken Salad, with Herb and Vinaigrette Dressing (for her) and Thousand Island Dressing (for me), with a St Louis Baby Pork Ribs, and topped it up with a Soup of The Day, Garlic Bread and Drinks! It came up to $34.40 after GST for us, and I guessed it was a good deal because it was really filling (:

Oriental Chicken Salad ($11.80++)

St Louis Baby Pork Ribs ($14.80++)

And you just have to top up another $3.90++ for the soup, bread and drink, quite a deal eh? (:

I loved the salad because they were absolutely fresh and yummy with the sesame dressing for the chicken, and the ribs were cooked such that the meat separated easily from the bones. Succulent meat and the tangy dressing made the meal a really satisfying one!

These two items made up the must-eats in Cafe Cartel, do try these two items if you’re going there! ๐Ÿ˜€

And presenting to you, my pretty Wifey! ^^

Meetup #2: baby J!

Met up with baby J at Cartel again hahah! It was a last minute decision and we just decided to pop in there without any reason haha. So I was trying to decide what to eat, and decided on a Pan Fried Linguine (no photos because my Memory Card was corrupted ๐Ÿ˜ฅ gahh) with the top up again.

The linguine was basically similar to an aglio olio with sauteed mushrooms and succulent chicken, and I liked it pretty much! However, nothing still beats the pork ribs heh!

Spent the hour with baby J as my Valentine’s before heading home to continue my date with my research paper! (: Love you girl, and thanks for the present!

It’s the New Year!

Happy New Year everybody! ๐Ÿ˜€

Spent countdown with Salvo at Marina Square (yet again) and watched the brilliant fireworks light up the sky! Somehow it is always a tradition and no matter what we do, it is always the company that matters โค

Met up with R for Mission Impossible 4 in IMAX, silly me thought that it was supposed to be IMAX 3D, only to realise that IMAX also have 2D films. In actual fact, IMAX really does look better and clearer than usual films and it was a good thing that I didn’t waste my money on purchasing the IMAX tickets ๐Ÿ˜›

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is the 4th Installation of the Mission Impossible series, and Tom Cruise had undergone a huge transformation since the last film, from dedicated lover, to an unkempt and brooding agent. The team of Benji, Jane and Brandt with Ethan Hunt was slightly mismatched, and truth to be told, I really enjoyed the movie.

It was so exciting that I couldn’t stop bobbing with excitement throughout the movie and exclaimed super loudly during the exciting moments! If you’re an action movie junkie, I think you’d enjoy the action sequence in this movie! The background of the movie was also stunning and it is really a great start to the year! ๐Ÿ˜€

Verdict: 4/5

And we proceeded toย Wild Honey for dinner, yes we had breakfast for dinner ๐Ÿ˜€

Loved how quiet it was at the Scotts Square outlet, I guess it’s because more people knew of the outlet at Mandarin Gallery.

Heh it was an easy choice for me since I kinda knew what I want! Eggs are a must hehe ^^

R ordered an Iced Caramel Latte, and me, I had a Chilean Rose Hip Organic Tea. Loved the tea, cleared the palate nicely with its fragrant aftertaste, R complained that his latte was too sweet and had too little milk. Heh, that’s why I always stick to Starbucks ๐Ÿ˜›

Iced Caramel Latte ($6.00++)

Chilean Rose Hip Organic Tea ($6.00++)

And our orders cameeee!

Califonian Breakfast ($18.00++)

English Breakfast ($22.00++)

Guess who ordered the larger portion? Hiakhiak^^

Anyway, the califonian was like a huge omelette laid over a crispy toast, fried with capsicums and mushrooms. Not to my liking since I don’t like capsicums. :/

Loved the English, even though the portion was so huge! Scrambled eggs, sauteed potatoes and mushrooms, with back bacon and pork sausage, Dad’s baked beans and bread, it was indeed a hearty meal and I couldn’t finish it on my own! However it was pretty salty but the eggs balanced it pretty well.

I really want to come back again! ๐Ÿ˜€ and perhaps try the other breakfast? Yumyum!

Verdict: 4/5
