Some eggy love~

If you knew me, you’d know how much I love my eggs. Scrambled, Fried, Poached, Boiled, Steamed, you name it, I love it. Hahahahah.

So I visited Hatched with my babygirls in the previous week, and boy did we have to overcome some difficulties just to enjoy our eggs!

So first of all, we visited the Evans Lodge outlet, reaching around 5.45pm. We were pretty much drenched from the pouring rain, and were anxious to start eating. And guess what. The outlet was CLOSING. Apparently they changed their operating hours till 6pm, with the last order being at 430pm.

Well hunger and cold doesn’t go well together, so we thought of a contingency plan, which was to visit the second outlet at Holland V.

So when we visited Holland V, we couldn’t find the place because we were all strangers to the Holland V area, and were walking around with dysfunctional smart phone applications in our hands, trying to find our way. So yes, we finally found hatched. At 7pm.

It’s in like a pretty obscured area because there were some constructions going on and you wouldn’t be able to find it if you drove by, but I liked the place a lot. Wooden panels, hanging lights, it had a warm and homely feel to it (:

So check out what we ordered :>

The pretty menu!

The Catalog Of Eggs! :>

Clockwise from Top Left:

1. My Smoked Royale (2 eggs at $18.00++)

Two perfectly poached eggs on slices of smoked salmon and english muffin, with a side of mashed potatoes and greens topped with balsamic vinegar. The eggs were purr-fecttttt, and the whole combination of the hollandaise sauce, eggs, salmon and muffin was amazing in my mouth! YUMMEH 😀

2. HY’s The Sleepover ($12.00++)

It’s french toast with bananas and eggs, topped with sugary sweet maple sauce. Suitable for people with a sweet tooth!

3. WL’s Papillote ($16.00++)

Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and toast, and sauteed potatoes. Their sauteed potatoes are really yummy when it’s piping hot!

4. VY’s Burly Benedict (2 eggs at $18.00++)

Poached Eggs atop of corned beef and English muffin, served with the greens and sauteed potatoes. It has a hearty serving, and suitable for people with a large appetite!

My food! Look how runny the yolk is, YUMMEHXZ. 😀

After a lovely dinner spent at HV, WL  drove us down to Yishun Dam for some chillax time. Visit there if you’re looking for a place to chill. Just don’t wear a skirt or dress because you need to stride across a fence to sit down near the reservoir. Heh.  It’s a really quiet place because there are few people that goes there, and just loved how much I could talk to these girls. (:
Anyway, Thank you girls for such an awesome night ❤

Happy Valentine’s Day-Part 1

Hello there, how did you spend your Valentine’s Day? (:

I spent 3 days with 3 different people for Vday meetups and I missed them so much!

Meetup #1: Wifey J!

Caught up with her before I went to Malaysia, and we went to Cafe Cartel because we really love the food there! So, for the two of us, we shared an Oriental Chicken Salad, with Herb and Vinaigrette Dressing (for her) and Thousand Island Dressing (for me), with a St Louis Baby Pork Ribs, and topped it up with a Soup of The Day, Garlic Bread and Drinks! It came up to $34.40 after GST for us, and I guessed it was a good deal because it was really filling (:

Oriental Chicken Salad ($11.80++)

St Louis Baby Pork Ribs ($14.80++)

And you just have to top up another $3.90++ for the soup, bread and drink, quite a deal eh? (:

I loved the salad because they were absolutely fresh and yummy with the sesame dressing for the chicken, and the ribs were cooked such that the meat separated easily from the bones. Succulent meat and the tangy dressing made the meal a really satisfying one!

These two items made up the must-eats in Cafe Cartel, do try these two items if you’re going there! 😀

And presenting to you, my pretty Wifey! ^^

Meetup #2: baby J!

Met up with baby J at Cartel again hahah! It was a last minute decision and we just decided to pop in there without any reason haha. So I was trying to decide what to eat, and decided on a Pan Fried Linguine (no photos because my Memory Card was corrupted 😥 gahh) with the top up again.

The linguine was basically similar to an aglio olio with sauteed mushrooms and succulent chicken, and I liked it pretty much! However, nothing still beats the pork ribs heh!

Spent the hour with baby J as my Valentine’s before heading home to continue my date with my research paper! (: Love you girl, and thanks for the present!

It’s the New Year!

Happy New Year everybody! 😀

Spent countdown with Salvo at Marina Square (yet again) and watched the brilliant fireworks light up the sky! Somehow it is always a tradition and no matter what we do, it is always the company that matters ❤

Met up with R for Mission Impossible 4 in IMAX, silly me thought that it was supposed to be IMAX 3D, only to realise that IMAX also have 2D films. In actual fact, IMAX really does look better and clearer than usual films and it was a good thing that I didn’t waste my money on purchasing the IMAX tickets 😛

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is the 4th Installation of the Mission Impossible series, and Tom Cruise had undergone a huge transformation since the last film, from dedicated lover, to an unkempt and brooding agent. The team of Benji, Jane and Brandt with Ethan Hunt was slightly mismatched, and truth to be told, I really enjoyed the movie.

It was so exciting that I couldn’t stop bobbing with excitement throughout the movie and exclaimed super loudly during the exciting moments! If you’re an action movie junkie, I think you’d enjoy the action sequence in this movie! The background of the movie was also stunning and it is really a great start to the year! 😀

Verdict: 4/5

And we proceeded to Wild Honey for dinner, yes we had breakfast for dinner 😀

Loved how quiet it was at the Scotts Square outlet, I guess it’s because more people knew of the outlet at Mandarin Gallery.

Heh it was an easy choice for me since I kinda knew what I want! Eggs are a must hehe ^^

R ordered an Iced Caramel Latte, and me, I had a Chilean Rose Hip Organic Tea. Loved the tea, cleared the palate nicely with its fragrant aftertaste, R complained that his latte was too sweet and had too little milk. Heh, that’s why I always stick to Starbucks 😛

Iced Caramel Latte ($6.00++)

Chilean Rose Hip Organic Tea ($6.00++)

And our orders cameeee!

Califonian Breakfast ($18.00++)

English Breakfast ($22.00++)

Guess who ordered the larger portion? Hiakhiak^^

Anyway, the califonian was like a huge omelette laid over a crispy toast, fried with capsicums and mushrooms. Not to my liking since I don’t like capsicums. :/

Loved the English, even though the portion was so huge! Scrambled eggs, sauteed potatoes and mushrooms, with back bacon and pork sausage, Dad’s baked beans and bread, it was indeed a hearty meal and I couldn’t finish it on my own! However it was pretty salty but the eggs balanced it pretty well.

I really want to come back again! 😀 and perhaps try the other breakfast? Yumyum!

Verdict: 4/5

P.S: Happy New Year once again! 😀

Feliz Navidad with 12 Inch Pizzas and Records and Antoinette

Merry Christmas to everyone! (:

Spent a great Christmas a few days ago with Salvo at SJ’s place, had loads of fun and laughter and these people are really awesome 😀 ❤

Met up with my mini tension to visit two awesome places for lunch and dessert on Boxing Day 😀

12 Inch Pizzas and Records

Located in V Hotel, we were a little lost among the throng of people in the hotel since it was boxing day, but we managed to find our way through the crowd and settled ourselves in the restaurant.

We were the only customers when we were there, and with soft rock music playing in the background, it felt very cosy and we enjoyed the atmosphere a lot (: Loved the records they had on the wall 😀

We were then given the menu that looks awesome, for the record 😀

And while we were looking for the drinks menu, I didn’t realise we had to look inside the record!

The menu looks so cool hehe ^^

We made our choices really quickly as yours truly did some research beforehand and we decided which were the must-haves pretty quickly (:

First up, the appetizers!

Cheese Fries ($8.00++)

Buffalo Wings ($10.00++)

The cheese fries were great because there were cheese everywhere. You know how some places have cheese fries with only the top layer covered with cheese and the bottom becomes plain? Well the ones here have cheese inside as well, and it was heavenly! Only thing is that you’ve got to eat it really fast while it’s hot because it starts turning soggy once the cheese cools.

Loved Timbre’s Buffalo Wings which was an all-time favourite though I didn’t really get to try the blue cheese dip because I had a phobia D: Maybe next time :/

Lo and behold! The best of both worlds, with Timbre’s signature Roasted Duck Pizza topped with Hoisin Sauce and Pohpiah skin, and the Goodfellas! ($24.00++ for Half and Half)

Duck pizza was a good mix of savoury and sweet with the hoisin sauce, and I loved how thin the crust was (: Duck was tender, and I couldn’t stop pinching the pohpiah skin off the plate heh.

Goodfellas Pizza, was basically Cereal Prawns on a pizza crust. A little disappointing despite rave reviews, mainly due to the soggy cereal bits which were too sweet, and there were too little prawns. There were barely any spiciness as mentioned, so it was a tad bit disappointing ):

Service was so-so, we were the only patrons, but I had difficulties trying to locate a service staff because they seemed to be hiding behind their bar counters.

Still, I think it’s worth a try! (:

Verdict: 3.5/5

Address: Level 4, V Hotel (Turn out from Exit B from Lavender MRT and enter the hotel)

Order Hotline: 6352 6266 (For delivery!-60-90 mins upon confirmation)

Operating hours : Monday to Sunday 12pm to 2:30pm & from 6pm to 10pm

We then set off to Antoinette nearby for dessert, loved the decor in the store, and look at what we ordered! ^^

Clockwise from the top:

Strawberry Shortcake ($9.00++)

Fluffy sponge cake, with light whipped cream and the slightly sour strawberries, it was delicious and it really hit the spot when you need a sweet fix.

Religieuse of Caramel with fleur de sel ($8.00++)

There was a fluffy tart covered with caramel, but I felt that it was a tad too sweet that it overpowered my senses. My advice would be to leave it for the last, or not have it in between other desserts as it would rob the sweetness of the desserts after.

Le Royale ($8.00++)

A great choice for a chocolate lover, and the wafer like thins in the cake provided great comfort for the chocolate based cake. The sponge was fluffy enough for my liking, and I enjoyed this so much! 😀

Antoinette ($9.00++)

The signature dessert, and my personal favourite 😀 Loved how the raspberry jam merged well with the fragrant earl grey after taste in the cake, and it was a very subtle flavour that left in my mouth even for a while after I had finished the cake. It’s definitely a must-have in Antoinette!

What impressed me was really the efficiency of the staff, as well as the decor and the other little details. Their toilets had a Victorian touch to it, and it was really pretty! Enjoyed my dine-in experience at Antoinette, and I’d advice you to try it someday (:

Verdict: 4/5

Once again, Merry Christmas folks! ❤

Love, Vee!

Had lunch with M at Bakerzin yesterday because we needed to find somewhere nice for a meeting.

I always liked Bakerzin because of their free flow bread (I love my breads), but I can’t really say the same for the food.

M ordered a Teriyaki Chicken Rice ($12.90++)

And this is my Aglio Olio with Bacon and Ham ($12.90++)

I loved my Aglio Olio, pasta was al dante, the seasoning was perfect with the spicy kick from the chili padi, and the servings for the Bacon and Ham were adequate.

M on the other hand didn’t really like his rice, he said the chicken was overcooked, and not as tender.

One of the reasons that I will go back to Bakerzin? The free flow of bread. I love my bread yumyum 😀 And their bread is so fragrant that I cannot stop chomping on it!

I was impressed by their standard of service as it had improved since I last visited and the captain was friendly and approachable, which was something very different in my Bakerzin experience.

Felt it was a little overpriced at the quality of food though. They didn’t have any set meals on offer and hence we decided to stick to the mains since everything else was so expensive.

Verdict? Let’s just give it a 2.5/5 since I love their bread. ❤

Sirloin at $9 anyone?

Celebrated the November babies (Edmund, Xuanya and Marshall) with a (pretty failed) Amazing Race, and we ended off the race with having a meal at WineBos located at Katong Village.

We were told by Caiyan that they served sirloin steaks at only $9+ from 6-9pm on weekends and I would say it is value for money with the standard of steak served.

I asked for my steak to be medium rare and I was delighted at how tender the beef felt in my mouth. Only thing that I wasn’t very pleased with was the gravy the accompanied the steak. It was a tad too salty and made me really thirsty. However, there was a generous portion of fries that made the meal a hearty one.

(Didn’t manage to take any pictures of the steak due to the poor lighting ): )

Some of them also ordered Brownies with Ice cream for only $5, and the warmth of the rich chocolate really put a sweet end to a satisfying meal.

There was also a live band for music-lovers, soccer channels for football fans, and also a rich selection of wines for the wine-connoisseur.

I’d give it at 3.5/5 (That’s pretty good in my standards I’d say :D)
